Miriam Coles Harris papers [manuscript], 1893-1900.

The collection contains a quotation, 1900 March 3 "When Anaparelius was being beaten to death, he said, 'Pound on. You can pound the sheath of Anaxarchus, himself you cannot pound.'" Signed on stationery with the words "The Autograph Collection of Howes Norris, Jr." at the top. The collection also contains a fragment of an undated letter or essay in which Harris discusses her thoughts on writing and the last page of a story [about bull fighting?] beginning, "...brute differs from another brute in fury; the wild creatures of the mountains cannot be trained to suit your game, you have to take them as they come." A postal card, 1893 Aug 5, to to H. O. Houghton & Co. requests that proofs be sent to her at this address, as they have reached her very irregularly lately.
